THE REICHENBACH FALLS

The Reichenbach Waterfalls in Meiringen are amongst the best known waterfalls in Switzerland. Visitors from all around the world come to see the place where the famous detective Sherlock Holmes fought to his death with Professor Moriarty in 1891.

What we’ll do

Opened in 1899 , the funicular will take you 244 meters high into the mountains. Once arrived at the top, you will be able to enjoy the spectacular view over the waterfalls, as well as see the famous cliff, where the epic fight between the Detective and the Professor took place.

The waterfalls are 250 m high, followed by an upper waterfall of 90 m, right in front of the funicular station, and represent a magnificent scenery. You can also take the funicular for hiking purposes, as the upper station is the starting point for many hiking trails in this valley.
In about 25 minutes from the top of the funicular stations, you will you have the possibility to hike down the mountain through different paths, or even take “Monster Trottbikes”( all-terrain scooters) to ride down the mountain.
